Hilda Ward Hilda Ward (1878-1950) American Expressionist painter and author. She studied with Robert Henri and exhibited in the 1913 Armory Show. Ward also wrote ''A Girl and the Motor.'' ==Early life== Hilda Ward was born in Annapolis, Maryland, the daughter of Admiral Aaron Ward. Ward studied in New York City with Robert Henri.〔Petteys, Chris, ''Dictionary of Women Artists'', G K Hill & Co. publishers, 1985〕 Her friends included William Glackens and John French Sloan.〔
